If the dog you want is...
* A big, big dog in a small package
* Smaller than most breeds, heavy boned, short legged,
classic and striking in appearance
* Confident, curious and playful, extremely loyal, more
dignified than most other terrier breeds
* A non-shedding breed needing some (not excessive)
exercise
* A surprisingly keen watchdog with a robust, crisp bark
* Intelligent, will not respond to teasing, nor forgive unkind treatment
* Definitely an indoor dog preferring to sleep with you in bed at night
A Scottish Terrier may
be perfect for you.
If a dog you
wouldn't want ...
* Does best with early and regular
socialization and interaction with new people and animals
* Is strong willed, independent
minded, thinks of you as an equal. A Scottie will always
wonder "What's in it for me?"
* Has strong chewing, hunting and chasing
instincts, will run away if not closely supervised, cannot
swim
* May show aggression towards
strangers including young children, other animals (in some
lines)
* Requires regular bathing
and grooming.
A Scottish
Terrier may not be the dog for you.
