Pollyanna & Pepper Offer Their Critique of Dog Show Sites

And A Dog Breed Match Game For Fun! (See Below)

This page contains information about Dog Show sites we have entered or visited since 2006 from the perspective's of:

                  Pollyanna (as a participant) and

             Pepper (as a spectator)

Considerations are organization, grooming space, cleanliness, noise, floor condition, judges, vendors, food, drivability (is that a word?) hotel/motel accommodations, cost and over-all dog show experience.

Scotties say "let's go back" by giving it a....... Paws Up

Scotties say "just skip it" by giving it a...... Paws Down

Show Sites listed alphabetically

Burlington, Iowa - Community College - Visited: August '06

Pollyanna wasn't with us yet, but Pepper approves of the food available for mum and dad, location, the size of the show which was small and intimate, hard floor with matting, judges selection and nearby lodging. It also didn't hurt that she took Group 1 in the puppy match after the show at 3 months of age!

Notables:

Awesome outdoor dining experience overlooking the sparkling Mississippi River with friendly people there who made a big fuss over her.

Negatives:

No vendors that she can recall.

Overall Rating....

Des Moines, Iowa - State Fairgrounds - September '07

Neither Scottie found the show experience very enjoyable at first, although once we found the show site, and figured out how to load and unload, both approved of the moderate show size, vendors, indoor temperature and hard floor with matting.

Notables:

Wonderful restaurant nearby motels for mum and dad... Noah's Arc

Negatives:

Bad road signage in town, long trip from lodging to show, confusing  directions, quality of food found at show for mum and dad was poor, poor selection of judges and electricity available only with advanced payment for reserved grooming. Next time we'll know our way around.

Overall rating...

Edwardsville/Belleville IL - Belle-Claire Fairgrounds - December 2007

The Scotties had mixed reviews of this show experience, in large part due to poor organization for the All Terrier Show, but after that settled down it became more enjoyable.  Good food for mum and dad and many good vendors.

Notables:

Good judge selection and hard floor with matting. Enjoyed seeing many friends there due to this being a local show.

Negatives:

No pre show-day set-up allowed and far too little grooming space the first day.  Once they opened up another room for grooming, it was better, but    only after moving all our stuff. No good motels very near show site.

Overall rating:

Indianapolis, IN - State Fairgrounds - February, '08

Again, the Scotties had mixed reviews of this show experience.  Pollyanna     was coming into season, was not feeling well and let mum know it by refusing to show. This was a Roy Jones Show and very nicely done. Set yourself up far away from the loading doors, or you will be cold all weekend.

Notables:

Huge, nice show site, very well organized with many vendors and hard floor with matting, tons of grooming space and (we had) indoor X Pen. Awesome restaurant experience with water-view for mum and dad and Steve and Debi at Rick's Boat House where they all ate well, relaxed and licked their wounds.

Negatives:

Extremely cold temperatures outside due to the time of year.  $3 per day parking charges plus had to park a good way from the show site. Lodging locations a bit far from the show site as well.

Overall rating.....

Let's take a break..... Play the Dog Match Game Below... then continue dog show reviews when you're done!!!!
